MJX X600 Hexacopter Review

MJX has been producing quality remote control products for the consumers for quite a long time now. Their main goal is to produce quality drones for an affordable price, so those who can’t afford an expensive drone can still use their drone. They did an amazing job as well when they’ve put together the X600 with amazing artwork and high-quality materials. The MJX X600 Hexacopter is definitely one of the most affordable, long control distance hexacopter with headless mode as you’ll see in the below review.

Design and build

The most interesting part about this drone is the fact that it has 6 arms, that is why it’s called a hexacopter. It’s not the only one with 6 arms, there is the Yuneec Typhoon Hexacopter that shares the same attribute of having 6 arms, however, it’s still something unique that you don’t see every day. The MJX X600 is one of the biggest pieces of hexacopter ever released by MJX. This drone is finished with much higher quality than most other drones within his price range. You’ll definitely notice how high quality the overlay feels. But this drone isn’t just for the high class or the professional drone pilots, the drone has some beginner-friendly features within his build as well, like the blade guards. These are to surround the propellers and prevent the powerful rotors from colliding with people or objects.

MJX X600 Hexacopter Package Review

As we told before the X600 is above average size, more exactly it has a wingspan of 573mm. But the weight is slightly below average having a weight of only 193 grams. The X600 is a very eye-pleasing drone. The drone comes with two color options: black and white. The drone looks really good in both options. To be even more exciting the drone is enabled with LED lights.  But the LED lights are not for just aesthetic purposes, it’s there so the drone can be used both at night and during the day. And besides this, the colors of the from and back are different so it’s easier to figure out the orientation of the drone.

Battery

The MJX X600 comes with a single 7.4V 700mAh Li-Po battery. The battery will get you about 10 minutes of flight time, but this depends very much on the environment and your flight style. So for example, if there is wind outside and all you are manually executed flips the drone won’t last more than 6-7 minutes. The battery needs about 120 minutes to charge fully and unfortunately, there is no fast charge for this. As you saw the battery works on 7.4V which does an amazing job if you want to get faster responses from controls and fly faster.

Remote controller

The X600 comes with a pretty big and bulky remote controller that will require both of your hands to hold it tight. The RC is a 2.4GHz controller that is surprisingly well built for the price that you get the whole package. Most of the buttons are enabled with inscriptions so you will know the purpose of that button. The controller doesn’t have any phone holder preinstalled on the controller because there is no FPV feature with every package for this hexacopter. But in the package, you can get a phone holder that you have to install yourself on the controller. However, you will get a small screen at the bottom of the controller to show you the drones’ telemetry info.  The max range between the controller and the drone is 125 meters, much higher than other price range drones. In the same price range, you can buy JJRC H8D.

Camera

The MJX X600 doesn’t come with a built-in camera just like other drones in the market. But it can still support a camera. The drone comes with a loadable FPV (First Person View) module if you purchase it separately (includes: C4006 camera with FPV bracket). The C4006 camera is specially made for the MJX X600 drone and can record in 720p with nice quality for an FPV camera.

It’s also compatible with the application from the manufacturer which the app is available for both Android and iOS devices. This enables pilots to watch the real-time video transmission on phones which can be placed on the transmitter. The phone holder is in the package, which can be installed or uninstalled from the controller. Note that this is an optional feature, it doesn’t come with the standard package. If you don’t want to only fly it around without a camera and an FPV feature pay attention to the details when you order it.

The camera doesn’t drag the drone down because it weighs only 10 grams, and the motors can handle it well. However, if you mount another sports camera, like a GoPro on the drone it might lose from its performance. The standard camera can record in 720p HD or VGA quality.

Conclusion

The MJX X600 is a big and affordable Hexacopter which is perfect for newbies, even if this is your first drone as shown in our review. Everything inside and outside the drone is just impressive if you consider the price you can get it. Even the packaging is a high-quality one. I definitely recommend getting it with the camera because otherwise, you can’t do much with it.
