Syma X5SW Features

A good word to describe Syma X5SW is: bulky.

It is a wide, thick structure that might bother for a drone. However, it’s still very light, so it’s no big deal when comes to flying and navigation.

The way it is built does take its toll on battery life. The motor needs more power to keep the quadcopter in the air. Unfortunately, Syma X5SW gives a short flying time than other quadcopters. Maybe it’s just a small thing, but it’s something that can affect the use of the drone.

In order to cope with the disadvantages of flight time, the drone comes with a couple of excellent design.

First, the quadcopter features some good landing skids that prevent it from being damaged while landing on a solid ground. There are some protective arms on each propeller, which makes the Syma X5SW solid against minor crashes.

For beginners, Syma X5SW is a great drone

Because of its features and specs, this drone is a good device for its price. The drone has a flight time of 6-8 minutes (without camera and prop guards) and 4 minutes (with the camera attached). The charge time is around 40 minutes.
Syma X5SW Quadcopter
For those who want to take some photos, will be pleased to know that the drone comes with an HD camera. The size of the quadcopter is medium and the control device has a range of 50 m. This quadcopter has a real-time transmission tech which helps you take amazing photos and videos.

Another plus to this drone is that it combines aerial photography with air stunts. Unfortunately, the Syma X5SW doesn’t come with an SD slot card and all the photos will be saved on a special app. The drone is compatible with both Android and Apple iOS.

Syma X5SW Camera

The camera allows real-time video transmission with the help of an attached smartphone, which is clipped onto the controller. The camera is controlled by an application that you download for your smartphone. You can download the app, Syma FPV for Android or iPhone. The captured videos and photos are stored in the application. On the back of the drone, you will see a small antenna, which is used to transmit the signals to your smartphone wifi. The camera is fixed in position and slightly pointed down. If you don’t want to deal with the videos and images, you can take the camera off.

Controller

Syma X5SW Quadcopter Remote Controller
The controller operates on a 2.5 GHz and uses 4 x AA batteries, which are not included in the box, so you have to buy them. You can set two levels of yaw mode using the left bumper button. The headless mode is activated by pressing and holding the left bumper. Shifting the right bumper to the right will cause the quadcopter to do a flip. You can also change the accelerometers, compass, and gyros from the controller.

Add-ons & Modifications

There are many things you should consider buying for Syma X5SW. In order to increase the flight time, you should buy four extra batteries along with an extra four USB charger. You may have to replace parts of the drone, so adding some spare parts to your shopping list, should do the trick. You may need a carrying case, so you could buy one with foam inserts so no damage is inflicted on the drone while carrying it.

The Syma X5SW Review Summary

The Syma X5SW is a good quadcopter for beginners. It is equipped with an HD camera that offers a poor image quality. It has minor problems with Wifi signal, little battery life and doesn’t come with an SD card slot. Flying the drone is easy and responsive. Unfortunately, when it is too windy, it is advised not to fly it outside. Despite this, Syma X5SW is budget friendly quadcopter for aerial photography and stunts. You can buy it from Amazon, GearBest, and Banggood. However, if you are looking for a more professional drone, this one is not for you.
