Design and build
The best thing about this drone is its foldable design, this is a great advantage, that will help its owner. A foldable design is just as durable as a sturdy, the only this is that is more practical. This way the drone will be easier to transport and it needs less space for storing it.
When the drone is folded it measures 11 x 17.7 x 7.8cm, and when you unfold it, it will measure 42 x 32 x 7.8 which is almost two times larger, except the height. Regarding its weight, it measures around 500g, which is above the milestone 250g which represents the weight where you have to register it to the FAA if you don’t want to get a penalty.
The outside shell is made out of ABS plastic, which comes in black color. This gives the drone a serious professional look. This type of plastic is perfect for drones because they are durable and lightweight at the same time. Also, the drone is powered with an 1806 brushless motor which is quite powerful and responsive to the commands.
Battery
The KF107 drone comes with a 7.4V Li-po battery with 3000mAh capacity. One battery like this can give the drone around 25 minutes of flight time. However, you have the chance to get multiple batteries. Just imagine, if you get 2 batteries you can get 50 minutes of flight time, if you get 3 batteries you will have 75 minutes of flight time, which is more than an hour.
Depending on your needs, you should consider getting multiple batteries. If you’re more into content creating or movie making, you should definitely get more batteries. If you just want occasionally to use the drone, then maybe one batterie will be enough for you.
The battery is very easy to handle and to change. Within a few seconds, you can change the batteries in the drone. A single battery needs 180 minutes to be fully charged. To make sure the batteries will have a long life, make sure to use always the provided USB charger.
Controller
Regarding the controller, the provided device is very likable and easy to use. On the interface you will have two joysticks and a few buttons, all of them enabled with small icons. The controller works with 2.4GHz which sends out a strong signal. This gives the drone a total of 1.5Km range.
The controller also has a minimal LCD display that shows you all the basic but important information about the status of the drone, like distance, altitude, battery, etc. However, if you want an even greater user experience, you should connect your phone to the drone. You can do this by downloading the manufacturer’s app on your mobile device (Android or iOs). After connecting your phone to the drone, you can extract the phone holder part out of the controller and place your phone there. This way you supervise easier and efficient your phone and your camera’s action.
Camera
If we already mentioned the camera let’s see what it can do more precisely. The camera on the KF107 Quadcopter is a 4K camera, however, it can provide 4K quality footage only for photos, more exactly 4096 x 3072p. As for videos it can record footage only in 2048 x 1088p, which is not 4K, but a solid 2K that should be enough for you.
The camera lens has a FOV of 120 degrees, and the camera angle is adjustable by 90 degrees from the remote controller. The FPV distance between the camera and your phone is 1200 meters, so after you lost the video signal you should know that you are near the full range.
This quadcopter also comes with another, secondary camera on the belly. However, this camera is more for depth censoring and it’s not advised to take photos or videos due to its lower resolution. However, make sure that both of the camera lenses are clear.
Features
Unless it is a racing or performance drone, it had better come with good flight functions. Well, the KF107 quadcopter is not a racing drone, so it also comes with some admirable automated functions. The functions available on this drone are the following: Gesture Photos and Videos, GPS Positioning, Waypoint Mode, Follow Me Mode, Mobile Phone Control, Headless Mode, Circle Mode. These will help no only to have better control over the drone, but also to create more entertaining footage, from better angles.
