Syma X5C Quadcopter Review
Syma is known to be one of the best brands of quadcopters in the world. With this in mind, the Syma X5C Quadcopter model is their number one seller. Considering all of this, it is no wonder that this model is also the #1 bestseller on Amazon.
If your curiosity is already over the roof, here are a few words about it: it has a camera, it is unusually light, but solidly built. You can easily tell this by picking it up. Trust us, you will be impressed at how well made it feels.
If you were to compare it with many other cheaper drones, nothing rattles or shakes when you hold it. Also, the propellers spin easily and are perfectly balanced.
The Syma X5C flies outstandingly well and smooth, as it is easy to handle and the quadcopter is surprisingly well built. It is not entirely perfect though, as it does have a couple flaws: the remote is not exceptional, the battery life is pretty short and the quality of the camera could be better.

Design
The first thing you might notice about this quadcopter is that it is quite bulky. The structure is wide and thick, something you would not exactly expect from a mini drone. Even so, you don’t need to worry about this aspect when it comes to flying. It is still very light, so the process will not be affected by any means. Also, you can see a pair of landing skids in the centre which do a great job at keeping the drone safe while heading towards solid ground. They make the drone sturdier and less likely to be affected by any minor crashes, and they also make it easier for you to repair it, whenever it is needed. On the propellers you can also notice LED lights, that make the drone easier to spot, even in the nighttime.
Camera
Overall, the camera is good. It is quite stable and is able to take impressive photos while in the air, while being able to record at 30 frames per second, with 1280 by 720p. The drone comes with a 2GB MicroSD card, which is great for storage. One disadvantage could be that the controller is able to send signals to the drone only, not the camera too. Therefore, your camera will stay focused in one point only and you will not be able to zoom in. One thing you can do though, is pausing the videos while recording and turning the camera on and off from a distance. Even so, this is a good beginner drone, for those who just start to learn drone photography.
Battery
This aspect is quite debatable among drone enthusiasts, but let’s see why. The best thing about it is that, in comparison to other mini drones on the market, this one has a great battery compartment, which allows for easy extraction and attachment. Also, the quality can be told in terms of charge holding.
On the flip side, the numbers aren’t exactly great. With a flight time of 7 minutes and about 2 hours of charge time, you can end up quite disappointed. Of course, this is a fixable aspect, as you can either remove the camera and landing gear and shake off some weight, or you can always buy a better battery.
Flying capabilities
If you just want a quick opinion, the Syma X5C is actually very easy to fly. This is possible thanks to the 6-axis gyro, which does a great job at balancing it in the air. You also don’t need too much experience, or any at all, considering how intuitive the controller is. Speaking of it, it works with a 2.4 GHz frequency setting with 4 channel type control. The maximum flying range is between 30 and 50 meters and works in all directions.
The features that it comes with include: 3D lock, scheduled flight, among many others. For example, expert mode can be activated through a button. In this case, the controls become faster. So, if doing 360 degrees flips is your passion, you’ve come just to the right place. With this setting, you can do everything with just a press of a button.
We also need to mention that considering its small size and easy maneuvering, this is a great drone for both indoor and outdoor flight.
I would like to know…
Does the camera move?
No. The camera is mounted in a slightly downward angle.
Does the remote control have a screen?
No.
Can I see a live aerial video?
No. While the camera is in the air, you can control it by shooting single photos and start and stop video recording, which is all stored in the SD card. When you land, you can take out the card and upload the files in your computer (the drone also comes with an USB adaptor).
What do I do if one of the motors stops working?
You can buy new ones on eBay and replace them easily.
