Design

The color scheme is something many people appreciated, as black and orange have been known for going together really well. Also, the overall design is appreciated, as it is agreed that it stands out amongst many models.

As to crash durability, it will not fall apart at your first accident, but it will also not be able to handle too harsh or many of them. One reason for this being how lightweight it is. Therefore, if you will be just a tiny bit careful with this aspect, you will be able to enjoy this drone for a long time. The good news is that even if you end up damaging some parts, they are easy to find and replace, so they will not give you too much of a headache.

Thanks to the four bright LED lights, this drone is easy to spot even if you plan on flying it during the night. You will also be able to tell its orientation and distance in the air.

Camera

The only downside of the camera that comes with the drone is that it does not have a FPV function. Even so, this should not be a reason to leave this drone to the side, as there are many ways, explained in videos, to adapt this drone for both a different camera and FPV. They are just one Google search away!

Considering how easy it is to find additional explanations about the Blade 180 QX HD, we can only assume that this model is quite popular, and definitely for a reason. Some important information here would be that the camera will not work until you buy a micro SD memory card, as it is not included in the package.

Flight performance

One thing that is certain is that this drone is super-agile and can easily zip through the air. Some might even say that it is too fast. This being said, we believe that it is obvious by now that this is not exactly a beginner drone. It is meant for pilots that have gathered a bit of experience and are able to control a fun, fast and even aggressive flight experience. All things considered, there is a bit of a silver lining for beginners after all, thanks to the beginner mode.

What contributes to the fun factor of the flight experience are the single button flips. All you have to do is push the transmitter button followed by the direction you want to flip and there you are!

A very important aspect that can not go unnoticed is the signature SAFE technology. It has to do with stability, something both beginners and experts look after. SAFE comes from Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope, which makes the drone sturdy even in windy conditions and creates the perfect hover. This contributes not only to the quality of flight, but also to shooting aerial footage.

On top of this, you have three other flight modes. They include low angle stability, high angle stability and agility mode. With the latter one, you will be able to fly faster and more aggressively, and the left and right controls become more sensitive, therefore making it easier to make acrobatic moves. The low angle stability is the easiest mode to control and so, the best fit for beginners. High angle stability falls somewhere in the middle, for the ones who have experience but still are not sure of the drone’s capabilities.

Technically, you are able to fly this drone indoors, but practically, we do not really recommend it. This is simply because the drone is too agile for this and you might end up damaging both objects around the house and your drone.

I would like to know…

How do you switch modes with the controller?

On the top left you can find a three position switch. You can also change them while flying.

Are the motors brushless?

No.

How many slots does the battery charger have?

Only one.

The package of the Blade 180 QX HD Quadcopter includes:

  • The drone itself
  • E-Flite EFC-721 HD camera
  • 6 channel, 2.4 GHz DSMX transmitter
  • 500mAh LiPo battery
  • USB battery charger
  • 8 rotors

All things considered, this is a good drone that guarantees tons of fun, especially if it is flown by an experienced pilot. Beginners can also use it as a last resort, but only in the beginner mode and with extreme care, as the power can take them by surprise. If you consider that the Blade 180 QX HD is a great fit for you, you can find it on Amazon, for a great price. Have a happy flight!
