Design

One of the first things we notice is the facelift that the L109 PRO received through the black and silver colors, unlike the boring gray we were used to. It is also backpack friendly, as it features a compact size and a folding design, ready to be packed whenever. Therefore, you can enjoy a lightweight, space-saving, and safer to transport drone. Something that is a little concerning is the fact that there are no propeller guards, so you need to be extra careful.

In order to help with localization and identification, there are navigation LED lights all over the drone: one under each arm and two frontal. Considering this, it should be almost impossible to lose your drone, especially in the dark.

Camera

We could not have possiby ignored the main feature that makes the L109 PRO so popular. Even though the specifications mention a 4K camera, the truth behind it is that it is slighty exaggerated and it can not actually take photos and videos at a professional level. Of course, this is not exactly much of an suprise considering the price point.

Even so, it is still a pretty decent camera, to say the least. Thanks to the 2-axis gimbal, you can say goodbye to the shakiness and jello effect and welcome clearer videos. The pictures are captured in 1080p, but they are interpolated by the app to 4K, which ultimately gives off a pleasing quality. With video, the footage is recorded in HD quality, at 25 FPS. For the best resolution though, you will need to record on a micro SD card, for which the drone has a slot. It is worth mentioning that you do not get a card included in the package, so you should definitely look for buying one. Also, because the video feed is transmitted live to the phone through 5G, you will also need a phone with 5G technology in order to make this possible.

Remote controller

The remote controller of the L109 PRO is actually quite good looking. The controls are clearly labeled, you have a phone holder that when it is folded up, it reveals a status screen underneath. On it, you can find useful telemetry data, like the GPS signal, number of satellites, remote and aircraft battery level, flight modes, speed, altitude, and distance.

The controller also has a built in 180mA battery, that allows you to use it for up to 3 hours. Also, thanks to the dual antenna system, you can enjoy flying your L109 PRO at a range of up to 1200 meters.

Flight performance

Something that you would not expecr for the price range are the brushless motors. They are more powerful and efficient, compared to the brushed ones, and they also tend to hold better in slightly windier conditions. One disadvantage is that with brushed motors, the L109 PRO would have been faster and hovered more accurately.

On the other hand, you do get a number of flight modes. This is thanks to the incorporated GPS module, that allows the drone to connect to more satellites, and ultimately give better positioning data and the opportunity for the flight functions. They include Return to Home, GPS Smart Follow, Trajectory Pointing, and Surround Point Flight . But what would happen if you were in a no GPS signal area, you might ask. Well, the L109 PRO got that figured out too, as it comes with an optical flow sensor on its belly.

On its specifications, we can notice that the flight time is around 25 minutes. This is definitely a variable number, depending on numerous conditions: the way you fly the drone, if you are doing any aerobatics, or if the weather is not ideal. With a 11.1V 1600mAh battery, it is always better to have some extras at hand, because the charge time is quite long- 4.5 hours.

The package of the L109 PRO includes:

  • The drone itself
  • Remote controller
  • Screwdriver
  • Body battery
  • USB charging cable
  • 2 spare propellers
  • 8 spare screws
  • Instruction manual
  • Flannel storage bag

If you are curious to see how this drone actually behaves itself, you can find it for an amazing price, both on Banggood and Amazon. We would be just as curious to see if all the hype around this model is worth it, so go ahead! Of course, do not forget to let us know about your experience with it, and what you did and did not enjoy. Other than that, we can only wish you a safe flight!
