GoolRC T100 Mini Quadcopter Review
Part of the family, the GoolRC T100 Mini Quadcopter is an entry level RC drone, that has an eye-catching design and an impressive number of features for its size and price range. This being said, if you are a beginner who has been looking for a drone fit for you, or you just want to make a gift for a kid, you have come to the right place. In this review you will find all the details you need in order to make your choice.
|Size||155 x 155 x 35 mm (L x W x H)|
|Weight||33 g (battery included)|
|Battery||3.7V 280mAh LiPo|
|Flight time||5 to 8 minutes|
|Charging time||Approx. 30 minutes|
Not only is the appearance exquisite thanks to the combination between red and white on the body and black propellers, but it is also an easy and safe drone to operate. It has LED lights that make it easy to find in the dark, and even in better lit areas. The propeller guards are very noticeable as they go around each set of propellers, and they are connected in a cross in the middle. They provide great protection in case of any crashes, so by far they are ideal for beginners. Also, the drone is built from ABS plastic, so the shell will be pretty protective.
Maybe the best and most cool feature regarding this drone is the 2.4GHz remote controller. It is not at all like others you might have seen. It is in the shape of a mouse that fits just right in the palm of your hand. By holding it, you can control the drone’s movements by moving your hand. On it you can also find buttons that are easy to reach from the said position. The buttons are used to activate different flight functions that the drone is capable of. With a remote distance of approximately 20 meters, you can have the best of times flying it.
The drone is equipped with a 6-axis gyroscope, which means that it will remain stable during flight and also be highly responsive to the commands. Also, the brushed motors allow the drone to even perform acrobatic stunts. As we mentioned, there are a number of modes you can enjoy. They are meant for both a fun time, but also a safe one, that will keep the drone around you and intact.
By using it, the drone will no longer take into consideration its own orientation, but the pilot’s. This way, if you want it to go to the right, for example, it will do so even if the nose is facing you. It means you will no longer have to worry about the orientation, and only about the movements.
One key return
Thanks to the built-in positioning system, the drone will be able to locate the remote control on its own and return to it, by simply pressing a button.
Again, just at a touch of a button, the quadcopter will perform a 360 degrees flip roll. This is a great way for beginners to impress their friends, without having to know how to actually perform a flip like that.
- It is easier to control, in comparison with a joystick
- Low price
- The charge time is quick and done through an USB cable
- There are designated controls for performing flips, in-place turning, up and down height adjustments and speed
- Battery life is a little short
- The drone gets stuck if you are flying it indoors and it hits the ceiling; a command for it to return is needed
- If it hits any objects, it can sometimes fly out of control
- When this happens, there is no way to force it to power off; even so, it can be told to land, and then the orientation can be reset by pushing the pair button on the controller
I would like to know…
Can the remote be used on the left hand?
Not very well, because the button that makes it do flips is positioned in a way to be used with the right thumb. Therefore, if you switch hands, you will be able to control the drone just as well, but it will be difficult to reach the said button.
Can the drone be flown indoors?
Yes, but it would be best if you were to fly it outdoors.
Is there a learning setting on the drone?
No, but it is extremely easy to fly, and even a kid will be able to learn very quickly. All there is required is to have a steady hand.
Are there different frequencies?
Yes, the controller has 4 channels, so up to 4 people can fly at once.
Does the controller come with batteries?
No, you will need to purchase 3 AAA batteries.
The packaging of the GoolRC T100 Mini quadcopter includes:
- The drone itself
- 2.4GHz motion controller
- 3.7V 280 mAh LiPo battery
- 2 pairs of spare propellers
- 2 finger holders
- USB charger
- User manual
All in all, this is a great choice either for a kid or a beginner. You should know that this kind of drone would be best for a kid that is 8 or older. Other than that, there are no restrictions, as the drone is smart and tough enough to protect itself from any critical damages in the eventuality of a crash. Whether this is a gift, or you plan to buy it for yourself, you can find it on Amazon at a great price. We are looking forward to hearing about your experience! Have a fun and safe flight!
