Heliway 901S Quadcopter Review – Decent Budget Drone
Heliway is probably a lesser known drone producer, but they do quite decent budget drones. If you want to get into the world of drones, then something like this should be something to consider. The Heliway 901S is a mini foldable drone that can be stored inside the remote controller. It has a special compartment in order to deposit it there when you are not using it.
First Impressions
From the get go you can see that this was meant to be carried wherever you go. The whole package is 24.6 x 18.6 x 6 cm which means you can almost fit it in a pocket, but you will probably store it in a backpack or if you have some kind of purse.. The drone itself has 50 x 50 x 29mm and even when it is unfolded it only has 96 x 96 x 29 mm. Another good thing about the drone is the weight, because you don’t even notice it if you hold it in your hand at 24.6g.
The drone looks a bit blocky at first sight, it almost looks like a mini transformer, which it really is if you think about it a bit. It can be unfolded, so it’s not so far fetched. The controller is also a bit blocky, so I guess they went with that look all the way.
Controller
The RC of the drone isn’t that complicated, but if it is your first time flying it, you should probably consult a manual, because it has a lot of buttons and it would be hard to guess what all of them do. When you press the power button, you will see some lights powering on, but you need to insert 4 AAA batteries and of course, they are not included, so you will have to buy them.

The Heliway 901S has a 0.3MP camera and you might think that it is not good at all. But it is quite decent and you can surely get some clear shots with it if you want.
You can find most must-have features on this drone, so that is a nice surprise. You get all basic flight modes like up, down, left, right, forward and backward. There is also a sideward feature and you can also do some neat 3D flips. Another feature that all drones should have is a the Headless mode and the one-key return, and this quad has them also.
There is also a speed adjustment and you can set it high, middle or low. All of these features can be activated from the RC or even from the app that you can install for this drone.
Battery
The 901S has a 3.7V 220mAh Li-Po rechargeable battery. You can fly the drone for about 7 minutes before it gets all empty and after that you can recharge it in about 40 minutes with an USB cable. Not so impressive is the control distance that is of about 30 meters. But of course, this drone needs to also have some disadvantages.

The Heliway 901S seems to be a very good budget drone. It incorporates all the basic features and it also has some more. The camera is decent even at that low amount of MP and it is very portable. So if you’re on a tight budget and you want something portable with average flight time and pretty good charging time, then this should be a very strong drone to consider.Price: $32.
