Larva X Quadcopter review

The new Larva X from Happymodel is out and it’s ready to give you a lot of joy. It’s a small but really powerful drone, of course, it won’t be as fast a bigger 5-6 inch done but considering his dimensions he is one of the fastest in the business of small drones a.k.a. small drones. However, don’t be confused by the size of the little aircraft. This little guy can do more than you imagine. You can do cool tricks with it, aerial photos and you can even use it with an FPV headset. And the best part is that you can get one for under 100$ so let’s explore the Larva X Quadcopter in this review.

Design

The first thing you need to know about this drone is his size, it’s a really small drone that’s why they call it toothpick drone as well. So don’t expect a big drone when you want to order it. More exactly it measures  88mmx88mmx45mm without the propellers, and it weighs 50 grams without the battery. As you can see you can store this little aircraft basically everywhere. Just be careful because if you transport it in your backpack it can break easily. Better find a little box for transportation.

Viewing the drone’s design from the esthetic part you can observe that it doesn’t have many layers on the outside. You can see all the cables and all the interior. Which is applied in the case of the Eachine Tyro 129 as well. This design gives a raw look for the drone which makes him really badass.

Camera

The drone’s camera isn’t the best, but nobody buys a toothpick drone for its good camera.

Here are some specks about the camera that hopefully will help you:

  • Image Sensor: 1/3″ CMOS;
  • Lens: 2.1mm(M8) FOV 155°;
  • Signal System: NTSC / PAL;
  • S/N Ratio: >50dB;
  • Electronic Shutter Speed: Auto;
  • Auto Gain Control (AGC): Auto;
  • Min. Illumination: 0.01Lux@1.2F;
  • D-WDR: Auto;
  • Day/Night: Color;
  • Power: DC 3-5.5V;
  • Current : 110mA@5V 120mA@3.3V;
  • Housing Material: ABS;
  • Net Weight: 3.2 grams;
  • Dimensions: 14 x 14 x 16mm.

Conclusion

The Larva X from Happymodel it’s a great little aircraft. But if you consider buying this drone as your first and only drone then I would rather advise you to get more money and get a better drone. Nowadays you can get a decent drone from 250$ that will give you a much better flight experience

But for those who want this drone just to have one more drone, it should be a great idea. I say this because you can’t do much with this drone other than to place it on your shelf. I mean you can do more of course, but after a few flights you will get bored of it. So consider it twice before you buy it.

If you wish to buy the drone check out these pages: Banggood, Amazon, and Geekbuying.
