The drone looks like a spaceship with rotors, it even has a windscreen to give you that feeling that you’re maneuvering a spacecraft. The drone comes in 4 different colors: green, blue, red and orange. And the bottom of the drone is enabled with LEDs matching the color of the drone. All these colors are coming in black color, because at each of the options the rare part is black, which is a good thing because everything matches black. The drone has a dimension of dimensions of 14.78 x 14.78 x 1.69 inches. The overall flight weight with the battery included is approximately 3.53 oz or 100g, so you won’t need an FAA registration for this drone.

And now, let’s get to the most exciting part of this Latrax Alias Quadcopter Review. Most of the drones are special because of their fantastic camera, good flight options, etc. But not this one, this one has gained everyone’s attention because of it’s built. This one is practically indestructible (if you try really hard you can do that, but it’s not advised.) When it comes to durability, crash damage is not a worry, mainly because of the 50% increase in the power. This helps ensure full snap-back control in the case of an accidental crash.

The molded composite and high-technology overall construction aspects bring this drone to a whole new level when it comes to durability and reliability. Other drones crash even if they hit the edge of a tree, but not this one, you can crash it directly to a wall and the drone won’t get a scratch. Or you can go over the drone with your bike and it won’t feel a thing. But you shouldn’t trust us, trust your own eyes.

Also, the Alias was designed to have an auto-leveling 6-axis flight system with a 4.2GHz 6-channel Multi-Mode radio system to ensure a smooth flight. The elevated rotors were designed to ensure a safe flight even if the drone is tangled in trees, for example, should a crash happen or an obstacle is in the way. The weight of the entire drone is also minimized thanks to the design of the frame, but this means that a stronger wind can move the drone, even in a wall. But luckily it won’t affect our quadcopter.

The Camera

The drone doesn’t come with a camera-equipped but you can buy one additionally if you wish. These are sold by the manufacturer, you can also find cameras through retail dealers, and even on Amazon for a very fair price. It’s very quick to install, and the system instantly recognizes without any software installation and automatically configures itself to the controls of the transmitter/controller.

The camera is a 12 MP camera which can make 720p HD quality video. The camera can make footages in full color and can have a 120-degree wide-angle lens attached, which is sold separately as an addition to the camera itself. However, the drone can be adjusted with only a 16GB micro SD card, but with this pixel rate, you will be able to store pretty much storage on it.

Battery

The battery is a 650mAh Li-Po, which works with 3.7V. It allows for up to 15 minutes of flight time, which is a fair time considering the dimensions of the drone and the battery. However, the drone is quite a simple yet powerful drone, so there is a lot that can be done with this aircraft. But be aware that if you use other accessories with the drone, as an additional camera then the flight time will be reduced.

Remote Controller

The transmitter, for the Alias, looks just like a console’s controller and is just as easy to use and comfortable. Therefore it’s really ergonomic and the whole build is intuitive. The throttle is for movement, and the buttons are for different functions which you can find in the user manual. Also, there is a small screen on the controller which shows you all the useful metrics related to the drone.

The transmitter is built precisely and the drone immediately responds to the inputs made through the controller itself. It even features a fuel gauge for the battery life in both visual and auditory aids to let the user know when the flight is going to the end and you need to recharge.

Flight experience

When it comes to the flight experience, the drone is limited to only 10-15 minutes of flight time, but that does not mean it is not an exceptional drone. The integrated bright, colorful LED lights make for a beautiful sight in the sky, and you will be sure you don’t lose your drone. Also, you can even customize the lenses by selecting from and purchasing 5 different LED lenses through the manufacturer. Different color selections and schemes actually make for a better flight performance considering the drones aesthetics

This is furthered by the rotors automatically preventing themselves from getting tangled in grass, trees, etc. When they hit an object the motors are stopped and the drone will start to fall and finally hit the ground. But don’t worry, it won’t affect the drone in any way. After a few seconds the motors are restated and the drone will start to fly as nothing happened. Also, due to the lightweight, it’s really fast and responsive to the controls.

But if this indestructible doesn’t amaze you yet then here are some more facts about the drone.

The drone has 3 flight modes total. This is an additional reason as to why this drone is perfect for both beginners and experts alike, which are outlined below:

Easy Mode – Auto-levels with a limited flight angle, best for beginners.

Fast Mode – Auto levels with flight angles that are more aggressive for one-tap flips, twists, rolls, and other tricks

Expert Mode – The possibility to disable the auto-leveling feature, and is able to perform a manual maneuver by the user, one-button recovery for auto-leveling, and has a fully adjustable rate based on your control.

Conclusion

The Latrax Alias Quadcopter will give you a lot of joy while flying as showcased in our review. You won’t worry about the durability of the aircraft and really can enjoy the flight. The only cons of the drone are the fact that can fly for a reduced time and has no camera. Even the aftermarket camera has a bad quality and won’t be able to make cinematic shots with it. But after all this drone wasn’t made for that so it’s not a problem.
