SGOTA RC Quadcopter Review

Today I will present you another beginner-friendly drone. You might ask what makes the drone a beginner-friendly one. First of all, it has to be made out of durable and massive plastic. It’s good to point if it has propeller guards. The control is also very important, it’s good if the drone has a quick response time, and it’s enabled with some intelligent flight options as well, to make sure you won’t crash it during a landing or at the time you’re filming with it.

It doesn’t need to have a good camera, because most likely all your footage will be blurry and shaky. Therefore it has to be made for practice. And finally, it has to be cheap, all the “first” drones are usually crashed, but if that drone was a cheap you won’t regret that much. And here’s the good news: this drone has all of this. In this SGOTA RC Quadcopter Review, you will get a detailed description of the pros and cons as well as the drone.

  • Working time: 10-12 minutes

  • Item weight: 116g

Build and design

The drone, when it’s unfolded measures 25x25x4.5cm. When it is folded, it measures only 10x13x4.5cm, which is small enough to carry around in a backpack if you don’t have a case for your drone. Therefore it’s a perfect drone for travel. The fact that it’s weight just 116g just helps you more because you do not need to register this drone with the FAA. However, when you go abroad, be aware of the rules related to drones.

As for the outside, it has a jet black coating all around its main body framework, the case is quite strong and massive so it will be usable even after a minor crash. Also, in the package you will get a set of propeller guards, if you’re a beginner, don’t be afraid to use it, it will save the drone and the precious objects around you. On the front, there is a glass-like sensor, which is the same design but not the same technology used on the DJI Spark, because on our drone it’s just a piece of design. And last but not least on the bottom, there are some LED lights, which is not just for the design. It’s a useful thing that helps you track your drone with your eyes even in the nighttime.

Camera

This foldable drone is equipped with not one, but two cameras which allow streaming images and videos at 720P HD quality. The main camera is located on the front while the second one is located at the bottom of the drone.

One bad part about the drone is the fact that all your footage will be stored on your phone’s storage. It’s not necessarily a bad thing if you can stay within the range. But if you go near to the selected range, which is only 100 meters, your image might get glitchy. And that’s not everything if your phone is low storage, a situation that happened to all of us then your footage is gone, and you have to get rid of some of your data before you reshoot what you filmed originally. So yes, having your phone as the main storage can cause you some difficulties. But let’s see the good part as well. Your footage taken with your drone will always be accessible to you and can show off with it anytime, anywhere.

Remote controller

The RC is as simple as possible. It looks like a console controller which is good because it has an ergonomic touch, and you can hold it tight. It has a black color, a phone holder, which is useful because of the FPV capability of the drone. The Controller works with 3xAAA batteries and as we told you before it has only a 100 meters range.

Flight experience

The drone comes with an 1100mAh battery and it has a flight time of 12 minutes, which is not that much but it can be enough to make good footage. It takes 90 minutes to charge it fully, from my perspective it’s the correct time.

But that’s not all, nowadays drone should come with more and more intelligent flight options, without them a drone is kinda useless. Here’s a list of the intelligent flight options this drone is capable of:

  • Take off and landing key

There is a button dedicated for this “maneuver” which gives an order to the drone to take off and hover at a certain height, waiting for your next move. If the drone is flying, it will come back home and hover at a certain height. This is one of the features that prove that this drone is a beginner-friendly one.

  • 3D flips and Headless Mode

3D flips are fun features that you can show off with. They help you break the monotony of the horizontal flight.

Headless mode, on the other hand, is a more useful function that aligns the orientation of the drone. This means that even when the drone is out of sight, you can be sure that it is flying in the right direction no matter the direction of his head.

  • Optical flow positioning

This feature is a really practical one that every drone should have. Optical flow positioning basically locks the drone to a certain height and it will fly at that height only. This feature also keeps the drone stable so that your photos and videos will be clearer and flawless.

Conclusion

The SGOTA RC Quadcopter showcased in this review with all of the features will give you a lot of joy and fun. It has a decent camera as well, which is not the best but if you’re a beginner it will be enough for you. If you feel that having a drone is your game then you can upgrade it to a better one, but until that you better stick with a cheap one until you learn the basics, and this aircraft might be a good choice.
