The Parrot Mambo it’s a really tiny drone, more exactly 5.2 x 5.2 x 1.6 inches and it weighs just 73 grams. Just like the other drones, this one has LED light in both front and back, so you don’t have to worry about the positioning of the drone, not even at night.

With all three packages, you will get the same drone, only with different accessories. Each of the drones has a lego brick on the top where you can mount the different accessories. It’s not the safest method but it looks unique. With the Mission package, you will get a grabber and a cannon so you can pretend you’re on a mission and accomplish different tasks. And with the FPV package you will get even a camera, but no cannon or grabber. This package is more for adults who love to use FPV.

You will get a controller only with the Mission and FPV package. So no controller for the standard package. However, you can control the drone with the provided app, which will work the same, only that you will get a lower range. With the Flypad controller you have a range of 60m and with a smartphone only 40 meters

The provided battery for this quad is a 660 mAh, 3.7V Lithium Polymer battery which is enough for around 10 minutes. But if you attach the provided accessories this will be reduced with 2-3 minutes because of the plus weight.

The camera you got with the FPV version is a 720p camera. The quality of the footage provided from this camera is kinda bad, but if you want a drone just have a taste of how FPV drones work then it should be good for you. But if you want a drone for more serious purposes then you should consider a cheaper good quality camera drone like the Parrot Anafi which is one of the best low-cost camera drones. With this one, you will be able to make amazing footages.

You will also get an FPV Goggle in the FPV package. However it’s a smartphone-powered headset, it won’t have its own screen but still, it will give you a nice experience.

Maybe you won’t be able to make great videos with this one, but at least you can learn how to control a quadcopter. And there’s more, you will also be able to code with this drone. Yeah, that’s right. The Parrot company partners with the best coding platforms to offer you lots of options to code drones using your favorite tablets and Chromebooks.

They support block codings like Tynker, Blockly and text coding like Javascript, Python, etc. So you can even learn some informatics with this drone, to perform amazing stunts and movements. This is a pretty unique and useful feature, mostly for the children. So while the accessories from the mission package they can improve their motoric skills, with this one they can learn actual things that will help them in their life.

Flight experience

Because of the advanced flight controller and powerful sensors that you can find on the Parrot Mambo is easy to fly both indoors and outdoors. If you install the prop guards you can be sure it won’t cause harm to anyone or anything. It’s so easy that even when you let go of the controls, the drone remains stable because of the altitude hold feature and the sensors. But there’s more. You have a feature called ‘cut-out system’ and when you activate it the motors will shut off in case of an impact. All the functions and the control are very beginner-friendly so all members of your family will be able to use it leisurely.

The Parrot Mambo Quadcopter from this review is one of the best you can get on the market. It doesn’t have any feature that might satisfy a professional drone user but it’s a perfect aircraft for a beginner or a child. The accessories will let the little ones learn all the basics of controlling an aircraft. And with the possibility of coding, you will handle practically learning tools if you give this drone as a gift for someone. Just be sure that you select the right package for your needs and it will give you a lot of joy. If you became interested you can check out the prices on Amazon, Walmart, and BhphotoVideo.
