Design
This is the smallest drone ever created by DJI. We all have thought that they couldn’t come up with something even smaller than the Spark, but somehow they managed to put all the things in an even smaller case and they’ve come up with the Mavic Air. Mavic Air has a very stylish look without compromising anything. Available in three colors: Onyx Black, Flame Red, and Arctic White. Actually it’s easier to travel then the Spark because of its folding system.
The drone is made out of plastic but it doesn’t have a cheap feeling. The drone is very massive and light enough to have flawless control and high flight time.

Controller
The controller has a really unique design. It’s a foldable controller, and even the joysticks can be removed and placed inside the controller to save more space. Your phone fits really nice in the phone holder of the drone and if you download the app you will be able to do even more with this drone. You will be able to access various flight features and you will be able to see telemetry Infos on the drone.
Camera
The 4K camera which can record in 30 FPS has an amazing quality. You will get crystal clear photos and videos without even editing them. The camera angle is adjustable and the camera is supported with a 3-axis gimbal. An interesting fact, the gimbal system can be adjusted in the app, so no matter what kind of pilot you are or for what purpose you’re going to record you can personalize the camera for your taste. The camera also has various modes and filters. One of the most interesting features is the Sphere Panoramas, for that Mavic Air stitches 25 photos together in just eight seconds to create crystal-clear panoramas.
All the footage can be stored on an SD card which you have to insert in the back of the drone. Besides the SD card, the drone still has 8GB of internal storage which is great for you if you forgot your SD card.
Flight experience
In order to keep your drone safe as possible DJI put some obstacle avoidance sensors on the drone. Those will alarm you when something is in front of you or behind you. And also I will tell you the distance as well, just like a parking sensor that you can find in the cars. The drone flies really well but if somehow you feel that it doesn’t match your requirement we have good news. The gain and any other aspects of the controlling system can be adjusted, even the speed.
You also get a lot of intelligent flight options with the drone and even a cinematic camera mode which will help you to make smoother videos so you can show off with them on YouTube and other social media platforms. Besides that, the drone can Return Home, or Auto-Landing, that feature activates itself even when the battery is running low. You will also get Follow-me mode, so with this drone, nothing will stop you from making awesome footage. All these features will help you to become an even better drone pilot, even if you haven’t piloted a drone before. The drone is very intuitive and beginner-friendly, and if you somehow don’t understand something you can read it in the user manual.
Conclusion
There is no question if this drone is worth it or not because all of us know the answer. If you sell all your other drones just to keep this one you will be happy with it. There are even some YouTubers that use this drone, like Peter McKinnon, Casey Neistat and others. So you know this drone is worth it. It’s rare to find a drone this good for under 1000$, it has one of the best price-quality values.
