DJI Tello vs DJI Spark – What Makes These Drones Different?

As soon as a new model appears from a particular product category, the first thing is to compare to something we already know, a model that we have tested or owned. So we will do in this article, comparing DJI Tello vs DJI Spark.
No matter what it is, either a new phone, a tablet, or any kind of gadget or product, comparing with something we’ve used before, it’ll be a lot easier to figure out if this product deserves to buy or test.

DJI Tello vs DJI Spark – Differences and similarities

DJI Tello vs DJI Spark Transmission Distance And Flight Time
To determine the differences and similarities between DJI Tello and DJI Spark, we will create four points on which we will decide what we like and what does not, at the new DJI Tello. Of course, it’s easier for those who have already tested DJI Spark, but for those who haven’t even got to know this model we will thoroughly describe all the peculiarities of the two drones.

The first point on which we compare the two drones is the level of difficulty they can use. Both models are designed for beginners, Tello and Spark are very easy to use drones, yet DJI Spark has more features and modes to learn and may seem a bit more complicated than DJI Tello, which is extremely easy to “start and fly”.

Another important thing to know for this point is that because of its size, the possibility of flying in the wind is much lower for DJI Tello, and it is designed to fly mainly indoors. For outdoor flights, other DJIs are recommended.

The next point of comparison is transmission distance, a pretty important thing in general, even in small drones. The DJI Tello is capable of flying at a distance of 100m, which may seem even too much considering its size and weight, it may be a little dangerous to risk it so far. Instead, DJI Spark has a transmission distance of 2km.

A drone is more exciting as it has more features, including the camera is very important, obviously this makes the drones much more sought after. The 5MP DJI Tello camera and 720p at 30FPS video recorder are lower quality than the 12MP and 1080p at 30FPS DJI Spark.
DJI Tello and DJI Spark Package
And last but not least, the battery and the flight time, which are acceptable, DJI Tello having a 13-minute flight time, again weaker than the DJI Spark flying for 16 minutes. Of course, it is somehow equal if we consider that a spare battery for Tello is much cheaper than a Spark reserve.

In conclusion:

With a little difference, Spark is still more special than Tello, but the differences are somewhat offset to the price of these drones, obviously Tello being cheaper. Beginners of this activity will be delighted no matter which of these patterns will go into their collection.
