Cheerwing W1PRO Beginner Quadcopter Review
The Cheerwing company has some experience in Remote Controller devices. Over the years they’ve created RC drones, RC vehicles, RC boats, and other Remote stuff. Their goal was always to create affordable and high-quality remote-controlled toys for consumers. One of the most outstanding attributes is that they are selling spare parts for their products. So in case you break a blade, a bumper, or anything on your W1PRO, you can buy the spare parts without buying a whole new drone. As for the Cheerwing W1PRO Beginner Quadcopter, the price is not too much, it has brushless motors, it has a stylish design as you’ll see in the below review. The drone is well suited for beginners who have never flown a drone before. So if you’re looking for a new hobby. Maybe the W1PRO is the answer for you.

Build and Design
The drone comes in white color and the gray touches which make the Cheerwing W1PRO drone look a very stylish and modern drone. It will give a perfect first impression if you give it as a gift. The drone has a small size, more exactly 11.6 by 11.6 by 2.4 inches, which is perfect if you wish to travel with the drone. However, this size will increase if you attach the propeller guards. This is not a foldable drone so you have to be extremely careful when you transport it, so you don’t break it. As for the weight of the drone, it is 250g with the batteries. Therefore you will probably have to register it with the FAA if you are in the US.
This drone is built with some powerful 1815-2400KV brushless motors. They are powerful, silent, won’t heat up that fast, and require less maintenance than a brushed motor. You can fly this drone for an hour continuously (if you have spare batteries) and the motors won’t get overheated.
In the standard package, you will get two batteries. Both of them are 7.4V 1800mAh Lithium-ion batteries. One battery is to give a flight time between 15 and 18 minutes, depending on the circumstances, environment, and your flight style. But you have 2 batteries so you should get at least 30 minutes of flight time. The charging time for one battery is 200 minutes. The batteries can be easily removed and inserted which means everyone could handle them.
The remote controller has a nice, minimalist style. It’s white with grey details just like the drone. The sticks, switches, and buttons are placed well, you can reach them easily if it’s in your hand, and they are also very responsive. The remote controller uses 4 AA batteries which you have to buy separately. In order to launch the drone, you need to place it on a flat surface and then press the power button on the controller and on the drone. The controller has a 200m control range, which is not that much, but for a beginner drone, it’s okay, this way you can always have visual contact with the drone. There is a smartphone holder included on the controller which will accommodate smartphones of different sizes. It is really secure, so it won’t fall off.
You can also control the drone with your smartphone, but it’s kinda difficult because you don’t feel the joysticks and the buttons so you always have to watch the screen. So I advise you to always control the drone, the remote controller, and leave the phone for the FPV only.
This drone is equipped with not one but two cameras. The main one is on the nose, which captures video footage at 1080P resolution. The second camera is placed on the bottom, which is a 720P camera. You can switch intermittently between the two angles to catch what is going on under and ahead of the drone.
Flight experience and smart features
Besides the nice design and qualities, the Cheerwing W1PRO drone has some smart features as well. These can be handy for both professionals and beginners because it makes it easier to create cool movements. The drone also has safety flight modes and beginner-friendly features. But let’s talk about the smart features.
Return to Home: This is an advanced safety feature. This automatically recalls the drone if the battery is low or you’re going out of range. To activate this feature, just push the button and the drone will hover several feet into the sky and it will start returning back to the home point.
Follow Me Mode: This one basically will start to follow you anywhere you go. This way you can capture yourself without holding the controller in your hand.
Gesture Mode: We saw this first on the DJI Spark drone. This intelligent flight mode now is present in the low budget category drones as well. The Gesture Mode lets you command the drone using your hand gestures. The commands are limited with this feature but it’s a cool option anyway.
Waypoint Mode: Another intelligent flight mode that allows you to create customized flight paths the way you want. Simply just open this mode and draw a line where you wish the drone to fly.
In conclusion, the Cheerwing W1PRO is a highly recommended quadcopter for a beginner and recreational remote pilots as shown in our review. If you are thinking of becoming a professional drone user or just have some spare time you can try out having this drone. The drone is well built and don’t forget that it comes with an extra battery. This shows you the attention of the manufacturers, also this means you will be able to pilot the drone for up to a total of 36 minutes. The flight range is kinda short, but the other attributes are really good. You also have a propeller guard which can prevent the drone from a potential crash.
