Eachine LAL5 FPV Racing Quadcopter Review
Just by looking at the Eachine LAL5 you can tell that this is a special drone. The color combination of the arms is really unique, but if you’re like me and don’t like these extreme choices don’t worry. This is a great drone with a lot of awesome aspects. With 2507, 1850KV you can figure out that this drone is all about speed. The camera on this drone is also a beast that can take 4K videos with a good FPS and no jello effect. Therefore you don’t need to put a GoPro on it cuz this one will deliver you crystal clear videos only by itself. If you want to attach a sports camera on the drone it will lose from the performance. Design and build
The drone frame is made from a thick 5 mm carbon fiber with the plates being 2mm. This material is very resistant and will surely stay together and protect the chipset if you somehow bump the drone into something during a freestyle flight. With the battery and everything it should weigh around 600 grams, so you definitely need an FAA registration for this. But don’t worry about the weight because the 2507 1850KV brushless motors can carry all that pretty easily.
It doesn’t have a battery included but after you’ve bought yours you can mount the battery either on the top or on the bottom because you have plenty of space. Under each arm, there is a small piece of purple rubber, that has the purpose to somehow protect the drone during a landing. Maybe it’s just me but it looks a bit like a little paw. I don’t know if that was necessary, but it’s definitely something unique. On the back of the drone, you will find the wi-fi and the power button. The one which is in the back is for the wi-fi. The drone also has a 5.8Ghz RHCP Antenna.
Camera
The Caddx Tarsier V2 4K camera on this drone is absolutely impeccable. It can capture videos in 4K with 30FPS in a 16:9 ratio or in 2.7K in 60 FPS in a 4:3 ratio. These are the upper limits, you can downgrade this until 720P,120fps at 16:9 ratio. The best part about having such a good camera is the fact that you don’t need to mount a sports camera on the drone. For example, if you attach a GoPro on the drone you will have less power so it will be harder to control it and it drags more power from the battery which means less flight time.
The footage taken with the Caddx Tarsier V2 4K camera is super smooth and clear. The camera doesn’t have any jello effect, so besides the fisheye effect, you will get the most realistic videos possible. This drone will enable you your ultimate drone experience because it does not just fly great, but also you can make cinematic videos. With a good DJI drone you will be able to get a great 4K resolution as well, but you will not be able to perform power flips with it. But with the Eachine LAL5, you’ve got the best from both worlds.
Flight experience
The 2507 1850KV motors are a great choice for this drone, they are big, gold, and shiny, but the most important, they are powerful. They will make you able to perform any kind of trick you can imagine with a drone. The speed on this thing is also something incredible, you can easily make awesome footage with it. However, you can’t try out its full power with a punch-out because the manufacturers limited it to perform only 80% in that situation, which is a good idea because it won’t suck that much battery.
Anyhow, don’t be scared of this power, because it can fit you even if you’re a beginner. This drone is a good aircraft to learn freestyle tricks if you haven’t done them before. It might take a little bit of time till you get used to all this power but with enough time you can adapt to this power, don’t worry. Also, this drone comes with an EACHINE Customized LAL-F405 Bluetooth Flight Controller so you can configure and tune your Betaflight settings from your phone via the SpeedyBee App.
Conclusion
If you want a quadcopter like the Eachine LAL5 FPV from this review for your GoPro then this isn’t your drone, this drone works so much better without a camera attached to it. Putting a camera on this drone will only drag it down and lower its performance. I’m not saying it’s impossible to fly it with a GoPro, but for that money, you can get yourself a drone that was meant to be to carry a go pro. Besides that, I guarantee that you will be satisfied with each and every aspect of the drone.
